Organized Home: A Place For Winter Coats

My favorite part of the year is fall/winter. I love the fact that it gets cooler out which means my family has an extra reason to snuggle together, drinking hot cocoa, watching some of our favorite movies.

It’s so much fun to get out those fall/winter clothes and shoes and see how cute the kids look all snugly warm.

However, unlike summer, fall and winter come with the added accessories like; jackets, hats, scarfs, gloves, and even some extra shoes and boots.

And this year for some reason it seems like we, my four kids and I, just can’t get it together on where our jackets belong. They seem to be finding themselves piled on the floor intermingled with toys, wore once and thrown in the hamper, or just simply MIA.

Wow, has this been frustrating while trying to keep an organized home or what?

So I have started looking at my options and this is what I came up with.

The best part about it is it’s so easy for me to put together and doesn’t cost a lot of money either. Yeah!

My children already have a tub for each of them to put all of their shoes in. They are already lined up against the wall so all they have to do when they come in the door is take their shoes off and they go right in their own shoe bin. (It took them a little while to get used to doing this but everyone of them from my seven year old to my one year old knows exactly where their shoes go.)

So my solution is to put coat hooks for each one of them right above their shoe bin. That way they now have a place for all those extras during the colder seasons.

A great plus to this is in the warmer months when their coats, scarfs, and gloves are packed away, they can use it for baseball caps, jump ropes, necklaces, or a light jacket for cooler days.

I loved the idea and solved one of my frustrations along the way! It just can’t get any better than that. It’s just one more step to an organized home.

I’m sure I’m not the only mom that has this same frustration. If you do or maybe you did and solved it in another great way. One that works for you and your family, I would love to hear your solution. Just leave a comment below or join me on facebook or twitter.

Remember… Organization is not at all about labeled perfection, it’s simply making things easier for you and your family.
