How to – Stay Organized From Kitchen to Picnic – Part 3

Question #3: What do you need to take on a picnic besides food?

Here are just a few suggestions on what to take on a picnic to make it fun, enjoyable, and organized.

A picnic with children might take packing a few extra things such as:

  • picnic blanket (one that secures to the ground will probably be the best)
  • toys (bubbles, jump rope, chalk, books, etc.)
  • extra clothing (just in case)
  • towels (just in case)
  • first aid kit
  • drinks
  • contact information (if caring for children that are not your own)
  • wipes
  • extra diapers and wipes (if caring for an infant)
  • sunscreen
  • bug repellent/citronella candle
  • extra bag for taking used utensils home in
  • cooler/basket

A picnic by yourself should be lightly packed with things including:

  • picnic blanket
  • something to occupy your time (book, writing, drawing, etc.)
  • napkins
  • eating utensils if needed
  • wipes/wash cloth
  • sunscreen
  • bug repellent/citronella candle
  • extra bag for taking used utensils home in
  • cooler/basket
  • first aid kit

When entertaining adult friends or a special someone on a picnic you might consider taking:

  • picnic blanket
  • something to occupy your time (book, writing, drawing, sports equipment, etc.)
  • napkins
  • eating utensils if needed
  • wipes/wash cloth
  • sunscreen
  • bug repellent/citronella candle
  • anything else to make the most of your time and make it special
  • extra bag for taking used utensils home in
  • cooler/basket
  • first aid kit

REMEMBER: For every picnic no matter where you go or who with you always need to bring a trash bag!! (It’s a must)
