Motivational Monday- Why Do We Need Motivation

After doing Motivational Monday’s for a little while, I got to thinking the other day, why do we need motivation?

You might have been asking yourself the same question, thinking that you don’t want to hear anything motivating from anyone else just because your own life seems stuck.

Well, that right there is certainly a great reason why we need motivation. Just because we seem stuck in our lives and homes surrounded by clutter doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. There are definitely tons of other people out there that feel and have the same difficulties you do. And it has taken motivation, suggestions, tips, and encouragement from friends, family, or maybe even a coach of some sort to get them unstuck and moving in the right direction.

Let’s take a moment to look at the definition of motivation is.

Motivation is…

mo·ti·va·tion:(noun) the act or an instance of motivating, or providing with a reason to act in a certain way:

Motivation provides us with a “drive” to do something, be some one, or go a certain way. It gives us the energy that we need to get going and take action on what we want.

Let’s take a look at some examples:

1) Look around you, look at the mess and chaos you live in. It will never change, you will live with this for the rest of your life. So don’t even think about trying to do better. It’s disgusting and so are you.

Was this motivating? Or is this what you here from those sarcastic people that come around to only discourage you? Did this statement make you want to take action and fix the clutter in your life or did it make you want to hide in your home, watching t.v. and not coming out for days? Is that really healthy? Does it make you feel good? No really, truly look at your life. Are you really happy living this way?

2) Look around you, look at the mess and chaos you live in. It doesn’t have to be this way. Just think of the feelings that would follow if you could walk through your home with ease and find things right away when your children or spouse need something.
Can you smell it? The difference. You can finally burn those candles and have good smelling air fresheners without fire hazards or worried about them getting knocked over. Oh how great that home cooked meal smells, and guess what your family thinks so too. They get to sit at that kitchen table with you and enjoy peacefulness, long overdue conversations, and once again getting to talk to their parents in a calm place.

How about that? Was that motivating?

Did you know that some of those things were benefits of having an uncluttered home? Just use your five senses and I bet you could come up with tons of things that could motivate you to take action today.

Do you have a certain way that you want your home to feel, smell, look like, taste, or even sound like that you have always longed to have? Or maybe you haven’t thought about this at all. Maybe this is an eye opener for you, opening up new opportunities and hey maybe it just might have MOTIVATED YOU.

Think about these things today, let yourself get motivated by me or someone else today.

As you think write these things down, and even on those days when you are feeling discouraged pull out this list of new beginnings and read through them, and think about them again and again.

We all need motivation in our lives from other people, that’s just the way we were made.
