Getting Organized: Good For Both Mind and Body

Let’s look at how getting organized can be good for both mind and body.

Can you imagine a tornado ripping violently through your home, ripping and shredding all of your great memories and precious valuables right in front of your eyes? Your heart sinks so deep inside you and all you want to do is sit down somewhere and let the tears flow out of you like a river.

Not knowing what to do next or how to fix the damage that has been done can be a difficult and sometimes feel impossible to do.

This in a lot of ways is how the clutter in our homes feels to our bodies and our minds. Our homes are in shreds, our memories and precious valuables sit day after day under piles of stuff and those piles just keep getting bigger and bigger and worse and worse, leaving those memories and valuables to perish right before our eyes.

According to Margaret Moore, (aka Coach Meg) who is the co-author of “Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life” and is the director of the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital and the founder and CEO of Wellcoaches Corporation, “An organized mind enables full engagement in a health-giving style of life.”

“Because we live in a universe in which everything is connected to everything else, you cannot change one aspect of your life without changing all the others. And because Things are physical and thus easier to get your hands on than relationships, careers, or spirituality, they make a great place to start [truly changing your life]”

Not only does it take our minds on a fierce roller coaster that causes fear to build up in our minds but it also takes it’s toll on our bodies as well.

How many times have you fallen over those mountains of clutter in your home and have gotten hurt or seriously injured from it? Or do you know of maybe a loved one or elderly parent that lives in clutter that you constantly worry about their safety?

Not to mention the medical expenses and medication that you and your family have to pay each year because of the bacteria, germs, mildew, and mold that build up all around your home that is unable to be cleaned properly because of the clutter that is covering those areas. You and your family may not realize the harm that you are causing and you maybe just blaming it on seasonal allergies instead.

How are the energy levels in your body holding up?

Are you constantly getting out of breath just finding last months bill statement or car keys?
Are there days that you sit up in bed and just the mere sight of the heaps of stuff around you make your body want to sleep your life away?

Do you really want to see and experience how getting organized is good for both your mind and body?

Then, here is my challenge to you:

Take just one room in your home, make it the one you like or use the most and remove the clutter and make it your own special room, one that reflects who you really are and the things that you really like and cherish. Make that a no clutter room, meaning give special attention to that one room everyday to keep it looking nice and clutter-free. Let everyone else in your house know what you are doing and let them know how important it is to you and make sure they understand the rules of no clutter.

I really want you to experience how this room makes your body and mind feel after being in a room that is essentially worry free from tripping, falling, old memories that are fading,…

Can you make the room smell the way you want it now by burning your favorite candle?

Is your mind at ease and you are able to focus more on the important things in life in this one room?

Does the smell and feel of that room ease your body and bring back great memories or does it make you motivated to start new and refresh yourself, maybe even find new hobbies or invite family or friends over?

Do you feel the energy just building up inside of you from the tips of your toes to the hair standing on your head, and you realize that deep down inside of you that this feeling has been dormant for a very very long time and it’s great to feel it once again.

Just remember that this is just the beginning of a journey that can last a lifetime for you. You can keep these feelings, smells, and make some great new memories between you and your family.

I encourage you to give it a try. See the response that your family gives you, I can almost guarantee that they will enjoy it just as much or maybe even more than you.

Your home is usually an outward appearance of what your body is feeling and going through, look around your home today and ask yourself one question… Is this how I want to feel everyday for the rest of my life?
