Why Aren’t You Able to Spend Quality Time With Your Family?

As you watch the calendar each and every day, you see the days passing by so quickly.

Those days turn into weeks, then months, then into years.

Where is all of your time going? More importantly where is your family going?

One day your going to wake up and find that your kids are all grown up and you have no idea who your spouse is or the person they have become.

Why did you let this happen? What stood in your way of spending good quality time with your family?

Why didn’t you play dolls with your little girl or show her how to bake those terrific tasting cookies that your grandma used to make?

Why didn’t you play cars and dump trucks with your little boy and show him how to climb a tree or play in the mud?

What stands in your way every day of your life while time and memories pass you by?

Is your “stuff” stripping you of the chance to spend quality time with your family?

You might be telling yourself no, but when you don’t have the time, energy, or money to do things with your family there is definitely an issue there.

Let’s really look at the source of the problem.

Dr. Pamela Peeke, assistant medical professor of medicine at the University of Maryland and the author of “Fit to Live” (Rodale,2007), hits the nail right on the head when she stated, “How are you going to shoot a couple of hoops with your son if you can’t even find the basketball?”

How do you truly expect to spend quality time with your family in a home that is full of stuff? Which then turns into chaos leading your whole family down the road with tons of frustrations.

Is this how you want your family to see you and remember you for the rest of their lives?

Okay, if not, then let’s get it together and see what we can do to make the situation for you and your family better.

Here is my challenge to you:

Take just one room in your home, make it the one you like or use the most and remove the clutter and make it your own special family room, one that reflects who you really are as a family and the things that you really like and cherish. This may take a little time to do because you may not know who you are as a family yet, but it will come in time. So in the meantime just ask your children and spouse what games they like to play or what hobbies they may have and use this room for just those things.

Make it a no clutter room, meaning give special attention to that one room everyday to keep it looking nice and clutter-free. Let everyone else in your house know what you are doing and let them know how important it is to you and make sure they understand the rules of no clutter.

I really want you to experience how this room will help you and your family spend quality time together.

Do you feel them opening up to you or relying on you more?

Are you feeling more confident in yourself and the way your family is growing?

You maybe surprised the way your family will grow together, even finding new hobbies or interests to do together.

Just remember that this is just the beginning of a journey that can last a lifetime for you. You can keep these cherished experiences and make some great new memories between you and your family.

I encourage you to give it a try. See the response that your family gives you, I can almost guarantee that they will enjoy it just as much or maybe even more than you. Then hey who knows it may spread over your entire home, making each and every room special in one way or another.

Your home is usually an outward appearance of what your body is feeling and going through, look around your home today and ask yourself one question… Is this how I want my family and I to feel everyday for the rest of our lives?
