Organized Home: A Place For Winter Coats

My favorite part of the year is fall/winter. I love the fact that it gets cooler out which means my family has an extra reason to snuggle together, drinking hot cocoa, watching some of our favorite movies.

It’s so much fun to get out those fall/winter clothes and shoes and see how cute the kids look all snugly warm.

However, unlike summer, fall and winter come with the added accessories like; jackets, hats, scarfs, gloves, and even some extra shoes and boots.

And this year for some reason it seems like we, my four kids and I, just can’t get it together on where our jackets belong. They seem to be finding themselves piled on the floor intermingled with toys, wore once and thrown in the hamper, or just simply MIA. Read More…

Home Organization For The Colder Months

Here at my house when it gets cold out we seem to have extra clothing and accessories than normal. And as our family gets bigger we seem to be running out of places to put those extras. So we desperately needed a little more organization for the colder months.

Have you and your family ever run out of places to put your coats, shoes, hats, gloves, or scarfs? Maybe you needed a place to put those bulky snow boots that are wet and muddy.

Do you have a dog that maybe needs to be taken out and walked everyday and need things to be more handy at the door so you don’t track mud through your home.

What about when you have extra family and friends over for the holidays are you prepared for their coats and shoes as well?

Here are some simple solutions that could help you and your family not only get through the colder months more organized but do it without spending a lot of money.

Keep in mind that you can use many of these items for more than what they are intended for.

Over The Door Hanging Purse Rack

This over the door purse hanger could be used to hang gloves, hats, or scarfs along with purses.

How to Make Better Decisions When Decluttering

Have you ever been faced with a decision that you have thought upon and thought upon and just can’t seem to come up with an answer?

Now your stress level has increased and you feel a headache coming on.

In “Psycho-Cybernetics, A New Way to Get More Living Out of Life” written by Maxwell Maltz, says that sometimes you just need to walk away from the decisions. Taking a nap or a good nights sleep will help you tremendously and help you come up with your answer.

The same applies when decluttering your home.

Sitting amongst a pile of clutter for an entire day is really not the best way to make good decisions about what to keep or get rid of.

More than likely you will start  to keep more and more the longer you try to work. Your efforts are being sabotaged by the amount of decisions that you are trying to face.

Action: I recommend taking 15 to 20 minutes a day ,decluttering your home, working through maybe one stack of papers, a shelf on a book shelf, a kitchen drawer, or maybe a small box that needs to be sorted.

Do only 15 to 20 minutes of work a day!

Paper Clutter… Stressing You To The Max?

Your eyes start bulging and your head begins to throb just by looking at the mounds of paper clutter that surrounds you.

You have kid’s school papers and projects of all sorts and sizes, spouse’s important papers from work, doctor visit documentation, medication prescriptions and directions, grocery ads, newspapers, flyers, bills… it all just keeps piling in without any extra effort.

It just keeps stacking up to make what appears as a mountain or even worse a volcano that’s just about to erupt with any sudden movement. And it’s all over your counters, table, coffee tables, couch, basically anywhere that has a flat surface is now covered in piles of paper clutter.

With papers coming in from all directions at a never ending pace with no where to put them, why wouldn’t you be stressed to the max.

You just have too much paper clutter and nowhere to put them…well besides stacking it up even higher on the piles… but that’s not a real solution.

You’re probably feeling as if this will never end. Read More…

Organizing For This Seasons Traveling – Part Two

Hey, out there come join me in looking at some great products to help you in organizing this year’s traveling plans.

What and how do we keep all of out papers organized when traveling? We definitely don’t want to be one of those people that you see in movies that goes to reach for a certain paper in their briefcase and ends up spilling the whole thing…and you guessed it you can kiss those papers good bye, as they blow all over the place. Either that or it’s raining and they get soaked and unable to replace.

It’s not such a good thing when it’s cherished photos that your taking to grandma’s house, passports used to get there and get back, or even a map to help you find your way to get to grandma’s.

Don’t end up being one of those people that finally makes it to your family’s house with your hair all a frizz, bags hanging all over you, and looking like you are stressed to the max. Have everything where you need it when you need it so that when you arrive at the “relatives” no matter who they are related to you can look and feel your best because you have used some of these organizing tips.
